EPIC URBAN STREET TREE RIDE Link
Portland Art Museum, 1219 SW Park Ave Take Trimet (Outdoor plaza facing Park Blocks)
10:00am - 4:00pm, Adventure begins at 10:30am. Ride ends in Cully, followed by Pizza Jerk happy hour
Street trees play vital environmental and visual buffering functions. On this ride from Downtown to Cully, we'll study how competing priorities for scarce right-of-way can impact urban trees by visiting great examples where trees were saved, sad examples of lost trees, and worrisome examples of trees in the cross hairs of future development. Brainstorm reforms to support the planting, growth and preservation of large form street trees. Learn about upcoming task forces and planning processes with Urban Forestry and PBOT to get involved. Guides: local land use & transport geeks, arborists, environmental leaders. Bag lunch or eat at The Ocean. Post-ride happy hour: Pizza Jerk. Join for all or part! A classy type of picnic ride. Leave your ratty t-shirt, cutoffs, and "I just ran to the store" chips and hummus for ANOTHER picnic ride, this one is about stepping it up. Dress up nicely (you don't have to be super-fancy, but it wouldn't hurt) and think about nice foods and beverages to bring. Blankets and nice picnic setups are good too. Thankfully we start at a classy joint to buy provisions. Ride will be about five miles to a mystery picnic destination. Bring lights and layers, we may be out after dark! And stay classy.

NO MORE 4-LANE ROADS Link
Northeast corner of Laurelhurst Park, SE Cesar Chavez Blvd and SE Ankeny St Take Trimet
5:00pm
Riding in protest of the pavement allocation status quo, we demand more space for people, less space for machines! Four-lane roads create too many distractions for drivers and impede visibility. Crossing four-lane roads as a pedestrian or cyclist, even legally, is hazardous. The extra lanes should be used for bike lanes, bus-only lanes, parklets, wider sidewalks, anything but vehicle lanes. No more four-lane roads! This ride is not for children and first-time cyclists; we will ride safely, but will be taking the lane on major arterial streets during rush hour.
Be there at 5pm to make signs. Sign making supplies will be provided.

This is a pub crawl for cider drinkers!  Cider Drankin' Cyclists will ride around the city, and visit local cider makers' taprooms.  The ride will finish with a groovy dance party at one of those taprooms.

21+; we will be stopping for a pint of cider at each location; easy ride, not a loop.

Peace, Love and Cider Drankin'!

NEWBIE MTB NIGHT @ GATEWAY GREEN Link FF
The Lumberyard, 2200 NE 82nd, Portland, OR Take Trimet (Meet at the Lumberyard and ride as a group to Gateway Green)
6:00pm, Be ready to ride at 6.
Did you know that Portland has mountain bike trails IN TOWN? The Gateway Green MTB system is located off the I-205 bike path just north of the Gateway Transit Center.

Will Heiberg (owner of the Lumberyard bike park) and his son Wyatt will be leading FREE rides each Wednesday in June out to Gateway Green.  These rides are designed to introduce you to Gateway Green, help you get comfortable with off-road riding and will include tips and tricks to navigating the courses. Meet in the Lumberyard parking lot and ride to Gateway Green as a group.  Ride leaves promptly at 6. Please RSVP on the Facebook event page so they know how many folks to expect. https://www.facebook.com/events/181329535911425/

If you do not have an off-road bike, loaners are available from the Lumberyard for rent.  The small rental fee goes toward maintaining the rental fleet to ensure it remains available to the community and is not a revenue source for the Lumberyard.  Send inquiries about rental bikes to info[at]lumberyardmtb.com with "Rental for Newbie Night at Gateway Green" as the subject line.

The Northwest Trail Alliance is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization based in Portland, Oregon. We build and maintain Gateway Green and are excited about the time Will and his son are donating to the community to ensure that folks can enter the sport of mountain biking safely.

WIND CHIME RIDE: TWINKLE TWINKLE RING-A-LING-A-DING-A-LING-A Link
Skidmore Bluffs, Take Trimet (Meet near the bike with the wind chime on it)
11:30am, Ride at roughly 11:30a. Brunch starts at 9:00. Wind Chime Riders can gather any time between then and the start. Please allow time to ensure that you have a safe, reliably attached wind chime.
Put a wind chime on your bike and come to this ride! It's fun to ride a bike with a wind chime on it.

Gathering will begin at Brunch on the Bluffs, because it sounds dope and I want to go to that too. I will be the one with the wind chime on my bike. I will have a small number of chimes to distribute. Our ride will begin after brunch has been consumed and all riders are confirmed to have safe, secure chimes. Probably around 11:30, but like don't worry about it too much. We will enjoy some time on quiet streets, where we can be ourselves, in the majesty of our chimes, before joining Sunday Parkways to end at the Bike Decoration Station. It's a mild, minor affair glommed onto other, better planned events.

Putting a wind chime on my bike has made me very happy, and I encourage you to try it.

About us: Bikin' Betties is an all-ladies bike ride on Monday nights. It's a great way to meet fellow female cyclists, get a workout, learn bike routes around our city, and become more skilled and confident on our bikes. Anyone who identifies as a woman is welcome.

These are no-drop rides (meaning no one gets left behind) between 10-20 miles at a pace that suits the group. We usually end at a bar/restaurant/coffee shop where we can hang out, drink some dranks and talk about how badass we are.

If you gender identify as as a woman, and like to/would like to ride a bike, join the Bikin' Betties facebook group to stay in the loop with events and discussions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/149442188741176/

We ride AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don't block intersections. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road.

REMINDER: The goal has always been to create a safe environment for all riders, but we cannot control every rider's behavior, nor do we desire to. We promote personal responsibility, and it is each rider's responsibility to take care of themselves, and if they choose to ride with us, then they accept those risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles.

PORTLAND FREEWAY REVOLTS, PAST AND PRESENT Link
Piccolo Park, 2540 SE 27th Street (between Division and Clinton) Take Trimet
5:30pm, Meet at 5:30; ride at 6!
Ride with us to learn about Portland's illustrious history of community opposition to freeway expansion. We'll start in Southeast Portland's Piccolo Park (originally bulldozed to make way for the Mt Hood Freeway!) and swing through town to see the scars left in the inner city from freeway expansion. We'll conclude near the Rose Quarter, where ODOT keeps trying to spend half a billion dollars on freeway expansion despite the fact that it's, you know, 2018, and that any sensible investment in our region's transportation system considerate of public health, equity, carbon emissions or congestion relief involves more transit, biking and walking instead of lanes of freeway.

NEWBIE MTB NIGHT @ GATEWAY GREEN Link FF
The Lumberyard, 2200 NE 82nd Ave, Portland Take Trimet (Meet at the Lumberyard and ride as a group to Gateway Green)

The days are longer and warmer, so were getting this ride rolling once again!

We depart from The Redd on Salmon St. at 5:30 pm each Tuesday, cruising up Leif Erickson and Saltzman to Skyline Tavern. After shifting gears a bit, well cruise down the hill (German Town or Springville) to cross the St. Johns bridge back into town. The ride usually ends at Barlow Tavern, though youre welcome to dip whenever you need to :)

This is not a drop ride! Please be prepared to change your own flat if necessary. Bigger tires are more fun!
